Gusachik, John M.

John M Gusachik, late of Orange, died at St. Raphael's Hospital on June 18, 2009 at the age of 93. John was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on February 14, 1916, son of the late Wasily and Elena Gusachik. Before moving to Orange, John lived for many years on Sheldon Terrace in New Haven and for many years on Old Barnabus Road in Woodbridge. John and his devoted and beloved sister Jennie had operated a shoe store in Bridgeport. John also worked for many years for the United States Postal Service. John was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees. Although he had lost most of his vision because of macular degeneration, he enjoyed listening to Yankee games on the radio and rarely was seen without his Yankee hat. John's quiet dignity touched the hearts of all who met him, even briefly. Anyone who had the privilege of being with John walked away feeling what a kind, warm, and gentle man this is. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched, including in particular, his dear friends and neighbors, Chester and Phyllis Iannone.

Services will be held in the LUPINSKI FUNERAL HOME 821 State Street MONDAY morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call on MONDAY morning from 9 until 10 am prior to services. Contributions in John's memory may be made to the Orange Visiting Nurse Association, 605 Orange Center Road, Orange, CT 06477.
